public class RegisteredWindow

extends UniverseJFrame

This class implements a reusable cache of windows for specific indexed objects. Weak references are used to ensure that if memory is low and the windows are not otherwise being referenced, they will be removed from the cache and garbage collected automatically. ISSUE: We may not be cleaning up the index of our table cleanly. Might need to do a finalize method that does explict removal if we are still in the hash table.

This method registers a new window instance using the given index. If an equivalent cached window already exists (i.e. one with the equivalent index), then the pre-exisitng window is brought to focus instead of the new instance, and the redundant one discarded.

This method returns true if the instance is a duplicate of a window that is already cached, or false if it is unique. This method would typically be called in a subclass's contructor right after doing a super() in order to see if further initialization can simply be skipped.

dispose

public void dispose()

This method is called unregister this window when it is no longer needed.
